About This Project

urbanMetrics was retained by the owners of the new Burl’s Creek Event Ground located in Oro-Medonte, Ontario to undertake a market and economic study related to the introduction of two major cultural events, namely: the WayHome Music & Art Festival and the Boots & Hearts County Music Festival.

 
The project was undertaken as part of a land use application to permit temporary camping and other commercial uses needed support upwards of 40,000 festival attendees. In 2015, the first year of festival operation, the Burl’s Creek Event ground generated an estimated $25 million dollars in visitor spending for Simcoe County, quickly making it one of the most significant new cultural venues in Ontario.
