Shawanaga First Nation – New Highway Service Centre Market Analysis and Business Case
About the project
In 2013, urbanMetrics was retained by the Shawanaga First Nation (SFN) to review and assess the market opportunity for a new highway service centre (HSC) to be owned and operated by the SFN. The new HSC would replace an existing band-operated gas station, restaurant and general store which has been operating for approximately 30 years at the intersection of Shebeshekong Road and Highway 69, approximately 30 kilometres north of Perry Sound, Ontario.
The proposed new HSC would be situated on SFN Territory on a site adjacent to the north-bound lane of Highway 69, and specifically within the north-east quadrant of a new full-service interchange, which would be built as part of the planned widening of Highway 69 – linking Parry Sound and Sudbury.
A second phase business case, supported by the Province of Ontario was also undertaken by urbanMetrics.
