About the project
Our firm was retained by the Town of Penetanguishene to review and analyze the commercial structure of Penetanguishene, particularly the downtown area. This study was undertaken to help the Town understand the strengths and weaknesses of the local retail market, and to identify opportunities to establish full commercial occupancy in the commercial core going forward.
This study provided the Town with a list of actionable items that were designed to help improve commercial tenancy in the commercial core, retain and attract more diverse businesses, and help drive greater visitation to the area year-round.
Input from local residents and business owners formed a crucial component of our analysis. The action items in this report reflect the outcome of urbanMetrics’ community-driven approach to evaluating the retail mix in Downtown Penetanguishene.
