About the project
urbanMetrics was retained by Airbnb to evaluate the economic impact of its popular home-sharing platform on local, regional and provincial economies.
This project was undertaken to support efforts to help quantify the value of local spending by guests and hosts, and the number of jobs created/supported in various markets across Ontario. The study has been used by Airbnb to advance discussions with policymakers and industry leaders with respect to the growing influence that this platform has as a driver of tourism-related economic growth.
