City of Markham – Older Adults Strategic Plan
About the project
urbanMetrics was retained by the City of Markham to prepare an action plan to keep its older adult community (aged 55+) healthy, active and connected to the community. The strategic plan being prepared by urbanMetrics is considered an important first step to ensure that the City’s program offering, and its service delivery model, are appropriately aligned with the current and future needs of its aging residents.
The action plan is predicated on the World Health Organization’s (WHO), Age Friendly initiative and is intended to dovetail with parallel work being carried out by York Region. The use of quantified engagement (i.e., online surveys and live audience polling) played a key role in preparing an Active Aging Plan to ensure that the needs of stakeholders are accurately reflected in the plan.
