urbanMetrics was retained by The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited (“CF”) to prepare a Retail/Service Needs Assessment for the lands surrounding CF Markville in the City of Markham. At the completion of the study, the City was still undergoing a Secondary Planning process. urbanMetrics provided this assessment to help inform the City as to the quantity, location, and viability of additional commercial space to be included as part of CF’s redevelopment of the Markville lands.
Our study concluded that the Secondary Plan Area will continue to be well-served by the existing commercial facilities in Markville. We recommended an overall rebalancing and reduction in the allocated commercial space planned for the CF Markville redevelopment, to better reflect the space warranted by the future Secondary Plan Area population.
