About the project
urbanMetrics was retained by the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region (WMR) to support the of the Capital Region’s first multi-jurisdictional regional plan. The Winnipeg Metropolitan Region was established by the province as a new administrative entity. It is comprised of eighteen separate municipalities and four first nation territories. After decades of siloed decision-making, the province of Manitoba and its municipal partners came together to establish a new regional framework for growth management and land-use policy. urbanMetrics, working alongside Prime Planning and WSP, was retained to provide long-range population and employment forecasts and establish a land budget to help control urban development and infrastructure investment as the region surpasses the 1-million population mark.
