About the project
urbanMetrics was retained by the York Region Economic Strategy Team in 2023 to develop a new Five-year Action Plan for the organization.
The action plan is a multi-jurisdictional collaborative effort that considers a full range of issues including education, workforce development, housing, real estate and land development strategy, mobility, technology and traditional industries such as agriculture and food production.
The project includes an extensive consultation mandate with business, community organizations and municipal leaders. Post secondary education is a major thrust in the plan, as York Region seeks to forge major collaborative relations with universities, colleges and other academic institutions to increase the region’s long-term economic health and well-being.
